I have always been happy to be Canadian and I must say this is an outrage and embarrassing to say the least. The fight for our seals is the one I feel so passionate about. Tim Hortons wastes so much food when the world is dying of starvation!

they throw away so much bread, muffins and baked goods everyday all across canada when food banks are too low to provide and families with children right in their community and the very people who keep their business so successful are hungry and in desperate need of food! they boast about caring about kids by selling those smiley cookies and only donating a portion while making a profit on it yet they wont give food they are just going to throw away anyways to kids! its disgusting and greedy. it needs to be brought to light. i worked there for two years and had to throw so much away , if i tried to give and got caught i would have been fired. they are not willing and are so strict about donating. they make excuses about risk of food poisoning when all other companies like Starbucks and bakeries donate their day olds. The food bank gets the companies who donate to sign a waver relinquishing them of any accusations. People who are forced to use food banks to eat are aware that the food is never fresh . And imagine what its doing to the environment, all the food they waste. Wasting huge quantities of food in this economy or at any other time is one of the worst things to be doing when the planet looses millions to starvation everyday! I know other restaurants, like Mcdonalds also practices this wasteful routine.

Here is Ward Foley's Facebook page. He is Scarman and he is so special. I cannot post enough about him! He has helped so many and he helps children. Jesus is smiling upon Ward! Those who help and love God's children are very very pleasing to the Lord and how great I feel to be able to Blog about someone positive helping kids when so many abusers hurt children and so many bad, evil things come my way and I must spread the word. When an ispiration like Ward comes to me, it shows me that we have hope and that there are people who care about the things I am so passionate to change. That I am not just sharing bad new and trying to help those suffering , I am connecting, meeting and making friends with people all over that I never would have know if I didnt start speaking up, if i didnt voice my concerns. If i just kept pretending not to see, how much I see that I would be missing out on.

Urge Mexican Officials to Transfer Lonely Lion to U.S. Sanctuary
iego, a young lion who was seized by Mexican wildlife officials during a criminal investigation, has been languishing for nearly two years in a cramped, barren cage at the Zacango Zoo outside Mexico City. Photographs and video footage provided to PETA depict Diego pacing incessantly in his tiny cage—behavior that is indicative of stress, boredom, and frustration. A U.S. sanctuary is standing by to receive Diego and provide him with the care he needs—including room to roam and the opportunity to enjoy the company of other big cats.
Please write to Mexico's Federal Agency for Environmental Protection (PROFEPA) and ask that Diego be released to the designated U.S. sanctuary that is ready to give him the space, environmental enrichment, care, and respect that he deserves.
Your letter will be sent to PROFEPA officials in Spanish, but it will be translated as follows:
Please Send Diego the Lion to a U.S. Sanctuary!
I was saddened to learn about Diego, the young lion who has been living in a barren, concrete cage at the Zacango Zoo for nearly two years. This made me cry! Another reason why children should be teaching us and we should be living by the examples they set. Seeing the world through the eyes of a child is what I try and do everyday. It's just much more beautiful that way!

Yesterday I posted a photo of a female northern cardinal waiting on our birdbath, not for a few seconds as their usual habit, but for over ten minutes. Several hours later this same bird returned and took up residence on the birdbath, only this time she didn’t just wait, she rested. She nestled her beak into her feathers and she fell asleep for over 15 minutes…out in the open, unprotected, alone. While other birds, chipmunks, and squirrels flitted and fluttered and foraged around her, she slept.
I watch the birds ten feet from my window every morning and I’ve never seen another bird fall asleep on the birdbath. Cardinals like to sit close to the ground in dense tangles of vines and shrubs, but never out in the open for more than a few seconds. Of the dozen different types of birds that I’ve been able to identify that use our birdbath, by far the cardinal is one of the most skittish. And yet she sat on the birdbath waiting, resting, content, as though she knew Someone was watching over her.

A new foster-cat program at the Larch Corrections Center is improving life for inmates and felines alike. Larch, a minimum-security facility near Yacolt, WA, launched the Cuddly Catz program two weeks ago; Cuddly Cats pairs pound-bound cats with inmates who meet certain requirements (did not commit a violent crime against animals or humans; free of prison demerits for at least six months; set to remain at Larch for at least a year after receiving a program cat; and passing an extensive screening process).
The program definitely benefits the inmates. Joey Contreras and Joseph Walter share a ten-by-twelve-foot cell – and charge of Princess Natalie, a long-haired black cat. Contreras noted in anOlympian.com article by Paris Achen that fostering a feline has given him an increased sense of purpose. "When you're doing prison time, you get set in certain ways and forget what it's like to have everyday interactions and be compassionate," Contreras said. "It's a little different when you have an animal depending on you to survive. Animals bring out the best in people."
Walter added that prison time can turn people "mean," but the "unconditional love" of a pet brings out their softer sides.
