Finding ways to help feral cats | Town:

By KATIE WATTS / Petaluma Towns Correspondent
“We have this segment of society that doesn’t have a voice,” says Jeff Charter, executive director of the new nonprofit Petaluma Animal Services Foundation. “Animals can’t advocate for their position. They sit in a kennel or a cage and wait for someone to make a decision on whether they live or die.
“Often,” he says with a smile, “we can affect those decisions in a positive way.”
In August, the foundation took over operation of the Petaluma Animal Shelter from the City of Petaluma. One of its newest programs offers that positive decision for feral cats.
The Humane Society of the United States explains “feral cats are the offspring of lost or abandoned pet cats or other feral cats who are not spayed or neutered. Nice ignorant comments! has anyone ever heard don't judge a man til u walk a mile in their shoes? who gives a shit y someone is where they are, it doesn't matter , be kind, have compassion. if everyone could just be nice instead of so damn negative a miserable, these problems would be much less than they are, instead they keep getting worse because of in caring assholes, who, without a doubt would appreciate kindness should they ever find themselves in a dire situation. all issues, illnesses and problems are different and all people deal with them in a different way. How envoys I am of the person who has the inner strength to fight their mental illnes and come out a survivor. Over the years I have been getting worse and always thought myself strong, I survive so very much, yet these past few years, my illness is weighing heavily on me, my fight hardly there. the harder I try and ask for help , the more the system is failing me. and I live in bc, I know of almost ten people searching for work with no luck. how the hell does one living on the street, no shower, no resume, none of the things we have in order to prep for work possibly apply?
